Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

GERDA - "SHELTERED SKY"

GERDA - "SHELTERED SKY"

Taking a path hewed by bands like The Twilight Sad and Yndi Halda, the post-rock / dreampop four piece Gerda from Seoul, South Korea offer a perfectly moody and incredibly moving composition with “Sheltering Sky”. A deep baritone voice rings out above an uneasy sea of guitars that pitch in and out of swelling drones and sparse power chords rung through layers of reverb. Pairing vocals with a composition like this is a risk that is well paid off here. A travelogue through a roiling inner landscape, the lyrics are evocative and cloistered enough to give some narrative to the track, but not present enough to veer into any kind of pop landscape. Highly recommended for bands like The Twilight Sad, Slint, The For Carnation and We Were Promised Jetpacks.
