Saltbreaker + The Lasso - "Foggy Vision"

The layering of acoustic instrumentation and intersecting pulsing drones create an aptly named “Fogg Vision” by the Michigan based ambient artist Saltbreaker. An unhurried, luxurious pace is created by these deeply felt and deeply held drones and melodic fragments. According to the press release, the Saltbreaker project is built on “employing an organic approach to recording and performing, the music is grounded and natural, hinting at a fusion of folk, post rock and new age music. Using vocals as a textural element, the music weaves stories and emotions without the use of lyrics. The band creates layers of sound with drones and uses acoustic and electric instrumentation to create their other worldly atmosphere. Saltbreaker explores musics capacity for healing and wellness.”

Of the creation of the track, Saltbreaker states, “In early 2023, while living as roommates at their shared studio The Deli in Hamtramck, MI, The Lasso recorded a collection of improvisations on a few choice synths and samplers in his upstairs studio. The files were transferred to Saltbreaker's main floor room for harp, vibraphone, guitar, bass, rhodes and piano overdubs. We reopened the sessions in November 2023 and edited here to taste.”
