The Velvet Shadow - Dreamlines

The Velvet Shadow - Dreamlines

According to The Velvet Shadow, “I often thought about being able to fly through clouds :)
This is the soundtrack I'd have as I swooped in and out of the fluffy bastards. Woozy Synth Riffs build over a low slung beat and warp into a percussive break. The music then evolves into into lush, fat synth chords as we hit the clouds”. I love this kind of narrative guide through songs like this. With this guide in hand it’s easy to see this movement through these field of clouds. A heavily arpeggiated synth line cuts through a gathering electrical storm of distressed tones before diving headlong into pillowy lines that cushion the fall - leaving strands of cloud as they slowly dissipate.

The Velvet Shadow’s Matt Temperley is an electronic producer, composer, and DJ from Manchester, UK. He creates atmospheric, dark, yet beautiful dystopian electronica by blending influences from techno, tech house, ambient, cinematic & experimental music. These genres all seem to have a bit of purchase as the track crescendos over and over again. Composers like Ryuichi Sakamoto and heavy electronic acts like Fuck Buttons seem to somewhere in the middle here.

Great work from this Manchester, UK artist. Even without the guidepost, there is something about this track that takes us into the clouds.
