A 'Long Time Ago,' (pun intended), Dylan Chadwick asked me if he could review the excellent new 2muchachos release, Teplaja, which arrived safely in our inbox this past June. "NO!" I shouted. "I WANT TO REVIEW IT!" (when you read that last part, please include a moaning, whiney tone with your thoughts).
After all, I've reviewed every single release the band has put together because, well, I happen to love these guys. Their music is so natural and elemental, even though almost none of it is acoustically derived. I just haven't had time to review Teplaja quite yet... but you should most definitely pick it up as it's completely free. I guess I figured my review would look too much like my other reviews: more Air and Múm comparisons, more about how adorably cute the music is and how humbled the band makes me feel and how warm and fuzzy, and gah! I don't need to subject any of you to more of my flowery-adjective-laden descriptions.
What you need to know: this is the best 2muchachos release yet. As the band has progressed, so has their music, adding layers, vocals, and without screwing with the overall aesthetic of the band, 2muchachos have found a way to really extrapolate on their minimal sound palates to fill out into something undeniably large despite its rather meek breadth and execution.
Check out this new video for one of the standout tracks (a tough denotation to make out of a total of four songs on the EP, since they are all equally nice), "Long Time Ago," which highlights the band's intimate love for the outdoors as a girl wanders alone through the forest, seemingly in search for what comes in the end—her glorious partners (THE 2muchachos?).
