This will likely be my last Videodrone post of 2011, and I couldn't be happier about it. These videos have so many friends in them, from the folks in crowd to the crew who shot them, and of course the musicians—new friends, people who traveled from far and wide to play their incredible music for us here in Denver during the GOLDRUSH Festival, that humongous little event the TOME co-curated with Magic Teepee and Speaker Snacks this past September. It's funny (in a sick, twisted sort of way), I was so completely insanely busy the whole week leading up to, and of course the weekend of the fest that in some ways I felt like I missed out. There was just no way I could concentrate all of my attention on all the shows I wanted to see. But these videos take me back and remind me of how amazing the whole exprience was in so many different ways, and I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do. I also hope that they wet your appetite for what we can cook up next year... if we can get our shit together! Anyway, no matter which way I look back on the fest, all I can remember is how much fun it was, how much fun it seemed like everyone attending was having, how amazing the various sets I saw were, and the general smashness of it all. These videos are an accurate document of a time in my life for which I am extremely proud.
The videos were expertly shot, recorded and edited by the fine folks of Brass Tree Sessions, and they just bring a tear to my eye. They look and sound so amazing, and I can't thank the guys enough for coming to the little house show afterparty for GOLDRUSH. A huge thank you to Jamie Bryant for doing such a great job of planning/booking/hosting the party as well!
And without further ado, here are some clips from the show, featuring the Kevin Costner Suicide Pact, Quiet Evenings, Chris Rehm, King Mob (in a special noise performance), and Happy New Year. Enjoy!
