In one of the stranger tracks to come across my inbox, Alex’s Hand is a duo comprised of a saxophone and guitar played by two nomadic Germans documenting their experiences as they move through Europe. “Hungarian Spa” is a bit on the nose in terms of a title. What starts as a easy listening and exploratory jazz and guitar composition, turns into hard-driving, super-precise prog exercise in over the top sax and guitar call and response. The result is closer to Jaga Jazzist or their metal-tinged project The Shining. I’m not sure what happened at that spa which led to such an abrupt change in mode. We may never find out.
