ALASKAN TAPES - "REAL PEOPLE IN REAL PLACES"

On "Real People in Real Places" the Toronto based ambient artist slides into some truly contemplative and gorgeous post-rock territory. What I love about this track is that it has way more in common with bands like Spokane or Codeine than something like Explosions in the Sky. At just under 5 minutes it captures all of the downcast sadness through shuffling drums, crashing guitars and heart-pulling strings that wrap themselves with near-perfect, knowing care.
