Like all good horror movies and trip-hop / industrial jazz tracks, “THOU / Y’ALL” starts small and ends massive. A collaboration between Salingitus and Zeta Io (who we’ve covered frequently here) the track mines some of the richest jazz-sampling late night trip hop of Massive Attack with an understated groove that reminds me of 90’s turnablism like DJ Shadow or Nujabes. The track goes from blistering breaks to throbbing arpeggios in record time. We here also appreciate the inclusion of the gender-neutral 2nd person plural pronoun with the honorific Thou. We say y’all a lot here in the southern tip of the Midwest.
