With influences from the music scenes of Leeds, Birmingham and Norway, this East-London based audio-visual trio questions the boundaries between genres of dance music and depictions of reality. Drawing from classical music and musique concrète, with intricate glitchy drum beats and emotive vocal fragments, Heirloom crafts a distinctive fusion of ambient soundscapes and contemporary dance music. The music swings between states of ecstasy, nostalgia, connection and despair, reflecting the absurdity of the modern human experience. 'Stray' is Heirloom's debut single, and the first song of their upcoming album ‘Reverie’, due to release in August 2024. Each of the project’s seven songs is accompanied by a meticulously crafted, abstract video. Blending modern and retro tools, from vintage cameras and analogue film to computer-rendered 3D scans, the viewer is invited into a world of choreographed light and sound. A dream transcending notions of the objective, but starkly reminiscent of life.
