A track rooted in linear, ascendant percussion, “Balafinn” from their album Rin from the French experimental group MONOLITHE NOIR is an intense and minimalist piece of textured electronic music that could ride forever on it’s upward trajectory. Striking similar poses as minimalist bands like Battles, Shellac or Fuck Buttons, of the track the press release states, “Rin’s tracks are filled with tension, anger, and lightning. We could perhaps hear in the background throughout this album, a voice that seems to speak to another, telling it to be more measured, but the conflict is still there.”
