The impetus for “Rage Piece” Nick Norton describes as “With the supreme court overturning Roe v. Wade it feels like releasing a rage piece is something helpful we can do. All proceeds from this track will be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds.” The guitarist and composer has created a visceral response to the horrors facing the country if, in all likelihood, Roe v. Wade is overturned. The track channels all of this expected anxiety and anger into a 6 minute + scree that features Breana Gilcher, oboe, Ethan Marks, trumpet, and Francis Roberts, synth. Fans of acoustically produced harsh / aggressively experimental music will find a lot to sink their teeth into here. Lasse Marhaug’s work with Sult comes to mind here. Those who aren’t attuned to this music will find a pointed and relatable response to the rage that many of us feel as horror after horror seem to be happening in rapid succession.
