Curt Parr’s chest-rattlingly deep “Thermoformer” is a descent in sheer hellish miasma of man-made climate change. Taking cues from sludge metal low-end, black metal atmospherics and lo-fi terror and sound design that recalls the 3-D punk soundscapes of HEALTH and Ben Frost, “Thermoformer” cuts early and deep, keeping you anchored to the floor with piercing noise and deep sub-bass. It’s an aching, pained cry against what is likely assured devastation. As Curt Parr put it, “The project looks into the human relationship with climate change, our inability to process the cosmic horror with our actions and the objects around us that contribute, being truly powerless to change anything whilst neo-liberalist entities divert responsibility from their actions.”
