Using textile as both art and theater, Julia O’Connell’s work provides the rhythmic backdrop of Harrison & Dunkley’s patient and intertwining guitar work on “The Sewing Machine”. O’Connell is the co-founder of Theater Absolute – UK’s only Shop-Front Theater. By producing textile design on a vintage 1919 sewing machine – the soft rhythms produced deftly underscore Harrison & Dunkley’s deft guitar work. It’s both a trick of the brain and the inherent musicality to begin hearing rhythmic patterns in the clacking sewing machine. Beautiful conceptual work by the UK duo.
