LEXICA – “FAINT HUE”

Rising out of the famed Prentis Hall incubator of forward thinking electronic music in the 90’s and the dream pop band Closer that formed out of that scene, Lexica is hearkens back to a time when IDM blurred a lot of the lines between trip-hop, shoegaze and musicians blending organic instrumentation with skittering, programmed beats. Lexica lives and breathes that beautifully subtle downcast electronic music with shimmering guitars and moody, plodding bass lines. Akin to bands like Styrofoam, The Notwist, Lali Puna and Ms. John Soda – Lexica’s Lorraine Lelis¬† vocals hold commanding sway over these gloriously sentimental tracks full of broken-beat production and subtle flourishes of shoegaze guitar. Highly recommended.¬†
