The Chinese post-rock band Pentatonic master a composition that inhabits several peaks and valleys of emotional intensity on “Jasmine” from their EP Bye Bye! Post Rock! released earlier in August. From interweaving guitars to mournful keys punctuating moving chord progressions and epic swells in post-rock ascendancy, Pentatonic performs an intricate kind of brooding instrumentation that is difficult to ignore even though it follows a pre-determined / genre-constrained course.
