aus - "Swim"

Out on Lo Recordings and FLAU in Tokyo, “Swim” from the Japanese artist aus represents an introduction to the new album by aus titled Everis. A swirling memory-chamber of highly textural electronic music, neo-classical instrumentation and a chaotic spin for good measure, “Swim” is presented as, “dreamt-up melodies combine with everything from vinyl samples and smartphone-captured field recordings. The result is a cocktail of sound that illustrates lost memories by burglary, unforgotten events, footage from mental archives interpreted through audio. “

Inspired after a burglary resulted in the loss of most of aus’s work in progress, aus returned with a blank slate that resulted in an album “Performed on piano, strings, clarinet, flute, voice and electronics, vibrations of everyday life are intertwined in the music with intimate field recordings, filmic strings and electronica running the gamut from gentle to muscular. The result is a cocktail of sound that illustrates lost memories, unforgotten events and footage from mental archives interpreted through audio. It's a glittering whirlwind of late-night jazz; etchings of love songs; and dedications to life, organically interlaced with the deft use of vintage equipment, slow-dripped through a filter of cosmopolitanism sensibilities.”
