Henri Utan K - "4 / 44 / 40 / 104"

There’s a lot to love here in this blank white void presented by London based Henri Utan K aka Henri Växby. There are some beautiful layered drones and reverb-heavy ambient passages that lap atop each other like waves from silver lakes. Punctuated this sea of prettiness are some wonderfully bent and idiosyncratically processed guitar lines that recall some of Kee Avil / Vicky Mettler’s approach to the prepared guitar. From the press release: “EP Ett is a collection of simple process pieces that move between part-improvised and fully composed, combining stark dissonance with gently hypnotic soundscapes and drones. This is music that is quiet and loud at the same time.”
