McDead - "Whistler"
A further refinement of the Melbourne based McDead’s omnivorous musical palate is the progressive “Whistler” which employs some deeply syncopated rhythms with a driving bass line and complex percussive arrangements. Splitting a difference between post-rock pioneers Tortoise with more IDM oriented acts like Mouse on Mars, McDead is able to effortlessly fold these elements into a driving composition that sets the controls for the heart of the sun and doesn’t look back. Focused and linear, “Whistler” hides depths within it’s minimalist front.
