Taking the original track that presented a more noir and downcast approach to EBM-influenced pop music, The Field stretches the 3 minute track into a 13 minute opus of ambient-techno ear-candy that moves from formless ambient fog to heavy-edits of the track’s central percussive measures, slowing Sharon Shy’s vocals into a narcotic crawl. I know we are only 7 days into 2022, but I’ve found one of the most singular musical experiences I’ve had in a long time.
