CHALK PORTRAITS - "MEMORY II"

A standout selection from the Metal-to-Ambient pipeline, Metal Injection's Greg Kennelty has debuted a lovely and thoughtful project with Chalk Portraits. Modular melodies intersect and crisscross with each other in strange and beautiful angles on "Memory II". Patient and unfolding, the track slowly unfurls in minimalist fashion until right around the 4:30 minute mark we hear some striking bass chords. While many of the Metal community who embrace ambient music as a mode of expression still keep many of the darker and more abrasive aesthetics, Kennelty has gone full on Eurorack New Age in the most beautiful and sincere way.
