Charlie Ryder - "Tiptoe"
“Tiptoe” by the New Zealand based Charlie Ryder is a lush and moving piece of ambient music that, while piled high with mountains of reverb and delay, holds a distinct melodic pattern throughout. A highly musical, counterweight heavy piece of ambient push-and-pull. According to the press release, “Tiptoe” is a “melodic meditation played on bowed tubular bells and synthesizers such as the Korg Polysix and Moog Subharmonicon. Originally inspired by the waves of the South Island of New Zealand, the song takes its name from late-night mixing sessions which generally required gently moving around a creaky home studio in order not to wake anybody up. Multiple shimmer reverb loops provide the atmospheric dreamscapes behind the half-speed melody sequence.” Absolutely lovely work.
