Christopher Colaço & Phillip Schaeper
"The Wandering Eye" from the two Berlin-based composers score beautiful footage of the mysterious and seemingly impossible process of flocking or "murmuration" among birds. Shot in black and white against a stark background, the two compose layers of strings that track every twist and turn of the starlings inherent and unspoken movements, measuring a sense of grandeur and reverence for something so otherworldly. The same mirroring neurons are responsible for this behavior are also the same that provide the sympathetic responses that make humans social animals. "The Wandering Eye" showcases a beautiful trans-species tendency for connection.
