GERDA - "ANCHORAGE"
Showcasing a bit more of their chamber pop side, the South Korean 4-piece Gerda continue their melancholy march north - imagining the isolation shrouding the Alaskan city of Anchorage. Channeling The National and The Twilight Sad, “Anchorage” is a completely gorgeous companion to bleary, rainy afternoons where memories of lost love and current infatuations meld into a sweet feeling of non-placed melancholy. A stray piano line, heavy ambient synths and a steady backbeat usher this composition straight out of our subconscious into waking reveries. The track eventually crescendos into a light climax with horns and choir with the phrase “Far up in the sky, my love. Be freer than you ever were” reverberating in our ears.
