John Derek Bishop - "Azure"

The Norwegian musician John Derek Bishop has returned with another highly textural composition that combines granular piano compositions and highly augmented field recordings into a dynamic composition that brings out the inherent musicality of all of these disparate sound sources. According to the press release, “Azure" combines field recordings with meditative electric piano loops moving slowly forward. It is a spacious song with an abstract pulsing rhythm and samplings. Midway in the song voice samples are introduced giving it a closer emotional feeling. Bishop has played all the instruments himself and manipulated them with various hardware and software samplers and effects. Mixed by Steven Grant Bishop and mastered by Taylor Deupree.
