LIMINA - "Boarding"

LIMINA - "Boarding"

Taking the concept of travel into non-lyrical narrative spaces, the incredibly talented neo-classical artist LIMINA begins his journey on Coming Home with “Boarding”. Felt piano, stirring strings, mechanical whoosh of the subway, percussive electronic elements and plenty of space and silence, “Boarding” sends us off. According to the press release the album is described as, “the concept of LIMINA first emerged in 2020 as a way for Tyler to channel his mesmerizing skills as a synth programmer for film, games, and television in favor of something more personal. His full length debut album, Coming Home, features neoclassical elements and atmospheric electronics akin to the work of Sigur Rós and layers of delicately arranged textures that suggest another Icelandic icon, the late Jóhann Jóhannsson.

Coming Home was recorded at AIR studio's famed Lyndhurst Hall in London, UK alongside members from The Philharmonia Orchestra and the inspiration plays on Tyler's unique storytelling ability as a film composer as it was brought out after spending time in transit, observant and quietly taking mental notes on the London Tube. Tones ranging from piano plucks, synth dots and bowed guitar pads to pipe organ and distorted, gated and repitched drums activated the sacred space. Some other patterns arrived as found sounds – tube cars, falling rocks and church bells, for example. Others washed in via VSS-30, Cycle and Serum synth tones.”
