Noah Before - "Ghoszt / Blanket Statement"

The Boise based ambient artist Noah Before has created two very different but quite beautiful expressions of living beneath the imposing open skies of Southwestern Idaho. With “Blanket Statement” Noah Before crafts drone like sideways snow - pervasive, all-encompassing and strangely beautiful in the way our perceptions shut down to a narrow field. Pure drone. Gorgeous and barren. Also from the same album, “Ghoszt” is a meditation on some heavily pawed chords that incorporates elements of the most refracted type of shoegaze. Vocals haunting the middle distance, percussion coming in hard-panned intervals - a few notches below a blast beat. It’s a broken kind of ambient music that if the distortion were turned up just a few more places it would turn into an excellent HNW track. The album “Body Comfort” is an innovative and highly listenable piece of work.
