STEVEN VRANCKEN - "ANCHORING SKY"

STEVEN VRANCKEN - "ANCHORING SKY"

Steven Vrancken started playing the piano at 23 after never having touched the instrument before. 17 years later Vrancken is composing moving and meditative neo-classical compositions. The Belgium based artist composed "Anchoring Sky" as an attempt to find balance between pragmatism and dreaming - that middle distance where the two eventually collide. Composed for the flute, cello and violin, Vrancken is able to create droning overtones using a Shruti Box and Xaphoon. The result is a delicate dance of melodies and drones between the instruments - striking a balance between instrumental workmanship and dreamy droning chords.
