THE FURNITURE - "THE SLOTH"

After doing time in bands like Arboretum and playing in live incarnations of the likes of UNKLE, Mt. Royal and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez’s live band, the Baltimore duo have collaborated on a deep, drone-fueled, Kraut inspired project called The Furniture. “The Sloth” video and composition are studies in dark and extended techniques of abstracting images and sounds until we are confronted with their hulking shapes while clothed in darkness. A laser-guided kraut percussion section and noise-edging amplifier worship keep the song below the substrate. Brittle earth cracking here and there to let out some stray strand of drone or rhythmic embellishment that peeks through.
