Aarktica - "Delicate Waltz of Shadows / Bridge of Fire"

Aarktica - "Delicate Waltz of Shadows / Bridge of Fire"

Jon DeRosa has a long history of creating beautifully textured ambient music. His album In Sea is one of my favorite albums from the early days of starting Tome to the Weather Machine. On that album there were moments where the singer-songwriter of Aarktica would come out. With his latest album We Will Find the Light on Darla Records finds DeRosa bolstering his thoughtful folk songs with swelling, expertly crafted ambient music. On “Delicate Waltz of Shadows” covers a “journey through pain, loss, healing, and growth, and captures the non-linear nature of forgiveness in the face of adversity,” through a delicate strum, DeRosa’s deeply resonant voice and soft cello in the middle foreground. “Bridge of Fire” takes a bit more of a starry-eyed mystical slant to this kind of elegiac folk. Droning strings, dripping reverb narrate “a song about the delicate veil between the physical world and the spirit world, and how death is just a transition, not an end.” Pre-order available below.
