CLOUD OPACITY - "CARBONATION"

Somewhere between the subtle house beat and intersecting melodic lines is a whole world of bubbling and gurgling sounds that are either clever field recordings or wholly rendered, synthesized sounds that sound startlingly organic. What’s nice is that wondering where these sounds come from only occupy a fraction of our time because “Carbonation” by Cloud Opacity is so damned enjoyable to listen to. Folding in melodic layers of distressed synths over the subtlest of rhythmic elements and percussive bits bubbling and spilling over from every corner of the composition, “Carbonation” meditates on summer ending. A summer full of record heat waves and, subsequently, the sharing of carbonated beverages. Heading into fall, it will be those smaller moments of sharing drinks with friends trying to beat the heat that I miss and look forward to the most.
