MARCONI UNION - "STRATA"

Setting their controls for the heart of the sun and not looking back, the UK group Marconi Union continues their Kraut-influenced electronic music. Their new album Signals is out next month on Just Music. The highly rhythmic and ping-ponging rhythm section of “Strata” portends great things from that album. Shades of Broadcast, CAN and Cooper Crain outfits Bitchin Bajas and CAVE loom large here. A surging bass line, a loose, Breaks-style percussion and smooth guitar arpeggios meet in the air above longform drones that seem to seep out of the ground like heavy smoke.
