COLIN STETSON - "CONTACT"

I have high hopes for this adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Color Out of Space". It features the return of Richard Stanley, the producers from the hallucinogenic "Mandy", an unhinged Nicholas Cage and a score by Colin Stetson. Stetson is a saxophonist and clarinetist who made a name for himself collaborating with Bon Iver, The Arcade Fire, The National, etc...in the aughts and has expanded his work as a bandleader and composer, scoring works such as Ari Aster's groundbreaking "Hereditary". "Contact" is full of low-end drones, terrifying in-the-red tonal shifts and tension building strings. A mood-building and psyche-shattering build up to an adaptation of one of Lovecraft's finest short stories.
