Janel Leppin - "The Brink"

Janel Leppin - "The Brink"

Recognized as a leading light in D.C’s storied and eternally relevant experimental underground, the cellist Janel Leppin has created a sonorous and somewhat melancholy composition with “The Brink”. Deep emotional pulls and resonant bass lines punctuate the track’s pensive beauty. Referring to the title of “he Brink” the press release states, “The title is a reference to The Brink Analog and Digital Recording Studios where Leppin has had a very fruitful 15-year relationship with Mike Reina. “I feel comfortable calling shots and making creative decisions there, without being second-guessed.” Of course, The Brink might also be a painfully apropos title for a work released into a world that has found new ways to stagger even closer towards the point of no return. “The people will rise to meet this thing head on,” we are reassured by the composer. “I believe in people’s will. I believe in the next generations. I believe that we are the majority and hope we will come together and not let differences splinter our power. It will take everyone being involved. It’s a physical struggle.”
