Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

John Hayes - "Fond"

John Hayes - "Fond"

Reflecting on the way in which “Fond” came together the Denver based artist John Hayes stated, "This was the first song I wrote on my Juno 60. The song itself is very simple, one chord progression just repeated throughout being modulated by LFOs and reverb. The chords modulate from being dry to being sent to a wobbly tape echo. This song always reminds me of someone sort of shouting into the void, hoping that someone will hear them." This concept of instruments standing in for our shout into the eternal nothing is really illuminating. We often use sounds created by machines to peer around and through places we can’t access. Synthesizers as some kind of spiritual sonar device. These ideas find immediate purchase in Haye’s inquisitive and highly tuned ear. Tiny variations opening up mile long canyons in our minds.
