JOSEPH SHABASON - "SO LONG"

"So Long" by Joseph Shabason is the album closer from The Fellowship and a track that I feel so deeply.  "So Long" is a fond farewell to a consuming religious life that dominated Shabason's outlook. According Shabason,  “It took me at least another twelve to fifteen years to fully deprogram myself from all the guilt and shame that was bred into me by religion, but I think that I’m finally free from it,” says Shabason of his present-day outlook. “This song is a final goodbye to that life… an exhale and deep inhale before I start a new chapter.” 

"So Long" is mournful and elegiac. Brass, keys and subtle electronics usher us out one world into another. The Fellowship has had a string of these incredibly moving compositions making it one of the strongest releases of early 2021.
