Kate Kato - "Viljandi, November 24, 2022"

I really love this very simple, very quiet, very melancholy music by the Japan based Kate Kato. Fascinated by the concept of "Groove" and our traditional concept "Ma". Most of my work is carefully removing extraneous sounds and fine-tuning the position of what remains.” This sound is personified in vast amounts of silence and decay that exist in this work. Notes hang freely in the air or stop dead in their tracks. Melodies flutter, bob and duck under the surface. Lovely work.
