LORE CITY - "I AM THE ONE"

"I am the One" is the second single from Lore City's upcoming album Participation Mystique, its contents reflecting a time that is "esoterically encyclopedic" according to the Portland based Art-Rock duo. "I am the One" certainly beckons the listener down to a liminal state where structure and spirit, voice and instrument, tension and release become less defined. Built around a Keyboard and percussion interplay, Laura Mariposa Williams' voice is able to weave around, in and through in a deeply spectral timbre that comes across as both rich and sonorous. The sense of being weighed down is present, but not in a heavy emotional sense, but more of a grounding tether to the rich loam beneath our feet.
