LORE CITY - "IT'S ALL HAPPENING"

The last we heard of Lore City was their excellent 2014 record Kill Your Dreams put out by our friends Already Dead and 1980 Records. "It's All Happening" is their  first offering from their upcoming album Alchemical Task out in October. It's a slowburn droner that holds two opposite states in constant tension with one another. "It's All Happening" is filled with enough air and light that it floats through and past any ceiling imposed upon it and heavy enough to sink to the bottom of the Mariana Trench of emotional despair. Focusing on a cavernous guitar drone and subtle percussion, Laura Mariposa Williams' vocals are able to explore deep resonance and explode into a cathartic howl. At almost 10 minutes "It's All Happening" settles into itself before pushing the duo into confronting a haunting mirror of musical motifs hinted at earlier in the composition. Fans of Chelsea Wolfe, Low and Big Brave should take note.
