MONO SOURCES - "UNEVEN GROUND
I feel a vicarious sense of option paralysis when I look over the intense amount of synthesizers and instruments laid out before the Los Angeles based duo in the video for "Uneven Ground". With infinite means and ability to tweak the output of sound in front of you, where do you start? "Uneven Ground" finds the duo chiseling and sculpting a mid-tempo pop song out of modular synths that gives plenty of room for space - allowing the listener to hear the introduction and completion of a new idea, melodic phrasing, interjected sequence in service of the track's melodic structure. It's an impressive feat, with all options in front of you, to write a song that pushes a vocal melody out to the front of (way more) than two noise tables worth of gear and possibility. Highly recommended.
