Ross Harper - "Hard Patience"

Taking a large leap into the more psychedelic milieu of Techno music with “Hard Patience”, the UK based producer Ross Harper hones his craft here on The Dark Album. While we mostly know Harper’s work in the ambient territory, “Hard Patience” finds itself in the headier (i.e. intelligent) side of dance music mining the work of artists like Leftfield, John Digweed, Oliver Lieb, DJ Solomun, Luke Slater, Developer and Drumcell for inspiration. Utilizing “digital drums machines and soft synths on touch screen devices” the track steps away from the analog “purity” of the roots of electronic music and utilizes the tools of that have democratized dance music production - for better or worse. For Ross Harper’s work, however, it is clearly for the better.
