Ross Hoyt - "Outage Power II"

At about 16 minutes the longform drone of “Outage Power II” by Ross Hoyt is a terrifying and impressive piece of work. Consisting of all acoustic instrumentation playing massive walls of ambient / noise, the trio channels some deeper eldritch horror from the Bay. Of the project the press release states, “Hoyt expands into minimal-freejazz territory, flanked by Contra Bassist Ed Lloyd and Violinist Ryan Honaker. Weaving through both atonal and melodic improv performances and short arrangements backed by drunken percussion, the album closes out with Hoyt on guitar and electronics, and Lloyd's performance baked into foreboding soundscapes.” Fans of artists like Lasse Marhaug, Sult and Ben Frost should take note.
