SILENCE AND THE UNWINKING MINDS - "EPOCH"

Mystery Circles continues their stream of expertly curated experimental and ambient music with the release of the single “Epoch” by Silence and the Unwinking Minds. Lest you think that Silence and the Unwinking Minds is some kind of 60’s throwback psych rock band, the press release states ,

“Silence and the Unwinking Minds is an ambient electronic music project and the first solo work by Wanaka, New Zealand based Derek Pearson. His prior work has been featured in performance art exhibitions and film scores. Prominently composed with his Eurorack Synth, a sampler, and a tape machine, Derek's music explores the tension between lush ambience and gritty textures, combining for moments of unexpected beauty.”

In “Epoch” we hear the characteristic chance encounters of melody, percussion, tone and ambient textures of the Eurorack interact with the warbled warmth and sensory output characteristic of physical media’s presence. Long live the tape machine. Really wonderful stuff here. Fans of Emily A. Sprague or Sweet Trip should really take note.
