The Spanish artist Vincente Murica reflects on the cruelty of humankind, manifested in small, seemingly insignificant acts that carry lasting memories. Set to bubbling arpeggios, surging drones and a steadfast ascending melody, “The most cruel act” is taken from this experience by Murica, “We all have unforgettable memories from when we were little. We usually don't recall the negative ones, but in this case, there's one that I have never been able to erase. When I was a child, in my first year of school, I brought a small comic to read during recess. While I was completely immersed in it, three kids came from behind, took it from me, and tore it apart. It hasn't left any lasting scars, but it led me to the conclusion that treating children cruelly is one of the most despicable acts that humans can commit.”
