GOODPARLEY X IOAN MORRIS - "REFRACTIONS

The synthesizer / guitar duo will never cease to create new and beautiful sounds that feel like being slowly lowered into an ocean encased in a diving bell. The collaboration between Ioan Morris’s serene synthesizer soundscapes and subtle house kick are interspersed with Goodparley’s aching guitar lines that weave and pop like sudden flashes against a darkening sky. These are matched with some excellent in-the-red drones and looping passages. Fripp & Eno vibes here to be sure, but the gradual build and release is favorably compared to Steve Hauschildt’s solo work. Of the track the two UK artists write, “dubbed an “Electronic Tone Poems”, this track is built from Morris’ synth soundscapes and augmented by Goodparley’s layers of improvised guitar, reflecting both the isolation of the album’s creation but also optimism of returning to the wider world.”
