Johnny Wilkins - "Humming Birds"

“Humming Birds” by Johnny Wilkins is an intricately composed piece of pop-influenced neo-classical music akin to groups like Penguin Cafe Orchestra. Building on a propulsive percussive feature, strings and guitar circle one another like hummingbirds in a garden. The track doesn’t so much as build into a climax as it does maintain a steady pace until eventually fades into it’s component parts. Lovely work. Johnny Wilkins work can also be found in post-rock and ambient projects such as FiRES WERE SHOT, Many Pretty Blooms, and One Far West.
